Romantic Heroes featuring Bellingham Strings

Bellingham Chamber Music Society’s opening concert featuring the Bellingham Strings will include Ernő Dohnányi’s Serenade for String Trio, Op. 10 in C Major, often considered one his finest compositions. In addition, Bellingham Strings will be performing Johannes Brahms’ epic Piano Quartet No. 3 in c minor also known as the Werther Quartet. Come learn about Werther Fever and the many secret messages that Brahms wrote into this quartet.

Featuring ShuHsin Ko, violin; Yuko Watanabe, viola; Coral Marchant, cello; and Judith Widrig, piano.

Bellingham Chamber Music Society presents three works featuring oboe, clarinet and strings. Prokofiev’s ever-popular Quintet in g minor, Op. 39 for oboe, clarinet, violin, viola and bass is taken from his mostly unknown ballet Trapèze. Come discover this amazing work and the unusual circumstance of its commission. BCMS is also delighted to present two works by local composer and WSO clarinetist Barry Ulman. His New Years’ Suite for clarinet and strings and Contrasts for Oboe and String Quartet are stunning and delightful.

Featuring Jennifer Weeks, oboe; Erika Block, clarinet; Laura Camacho, violin; Eric Kean, viola; Spencer Hoveskeland, bass; and others.

BCMS presents Trinsic Brass for an afternoon of unique works to get your toes tapping, from Cuba to Germany.  The program includes Jon Stevens’ Triangles, Mike Rossi’s The Forty Club, Trio Op. 82 No.11 by Anton Reicha and a series of Cuban folk songs. Get your groove on with this program.

Bellingham Chamber Music Society celebrates Women’s History Month by highlighting the works of 20th and 21st century American women composers for soprano and chamber ensemble. Soloist Sherrie Kahn, supported by some of Bellingham’s best women musicians, will perform rarely-heard chamber music by Miriam Gideon, Marion Bauer, Ruth Crawford Seeger, Vivian Fine and Bellingham composer, Lesley Sommer.
